Warren Sonbert Movie Still Promotes Nathaniel Dorsky and Jerome Hiler Series at Filmoteca de Catalunya

A retrospective screening of the films of Nathaniel Dorsky and Jerome Hiler (curated by Francisco Algarin and Carlos Saldaña) is taking place at the Filmoteca de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) on January 14 and 15, 2022. To announce the exhibition on the Filmoteca’s website, a film frame of the two filmmakers at a rewind table is featured from Warren Sonbert’s THE TENTH LEGION (1967), which will be released by GME for the first time in a 1080 HD digital format this winter. It will join THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (1967) and Sonbert’s earliest films from 1966 in GME’s Warren Sonbert Collection, all premier 1080 HD releases of this filmmaker’s work. Permission was given by the Estate of Warren Sonbert (managed by Gartenberg Media Enterprises) from a frame enlargement provided by Light Cone in Paris, the European distributor of Sonbert’s films.

This film series will also be shown in Barcelona under the auspices of Xcèntric and Zumzeig.

The Estate of Warren Sonbert has previously named GME as the custodian of the legacy of experimental filmmaker Warren Sonbert (1947-1995). Since his untimely passing, GME has worked on an extensive project to preserve, distribute and curate career retrospectives of his films on an international basis, as well as publish original documents from the paper archive of his writings, which are now housed at Harvard University.
