The DVD edition of MARQUIS DE WAVRIN is the winner of this year’s prestigious Il Cinema Rirtrovato DVD Award for “Best Rediscovery of a Forgotten Film”.

GME has focused attention on the rediscovery of lesser known movies in the Film Noir genre.  In addition to our prior release of TOO LATE FOR TEARS (1949) and WOMAN ON THE RUN (1950), we are now pleased to offer the newest DVD publication in conjunction with Flicker Alley, THE MAN WHO CHEATED HIMSELF (1950).  

One of the pleasures of curating a line of DVD releases is the ability to help reshape the canons of film history.  Very little is known in North America about Portuguese silent film history, and with several new DVD releases, our attempt is to alter this understanding.  We offer 3 DVD publications by key directors of the silent era In Portugal:  Rino Lupo (RINO LUPO: MULHERES DA BEIRA / OS LOBOS), Reinaldo Ferreira (O TÁXI Nº 9297), and Leitão de Barros (LISBOA, CRÓNICA ANEDÓTICA).

November 11, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.  To acknowledge this historical moment, GME presents a curated collection of DVDs related to this international conflict and its immediate aftermath.
