GME Remembers Barbara Walters with Photos of Her Time at NBC "Today" by Raimondo Borea

Gartenberg Media Enterprises (GME) is honored to memorialize the recent passing of Barbara Walters, who broke barriers for women as the first female co-host of the “Today” show and the first female anchor of a network evening news program, and who as an interviewer of celebrities became one herself, helping to blur the line between news and entertainment.
Ms. Walters first made her mark on the “Today” show on NBC, where she began appearing regularly on camera in 1964; she was officially named co-host a decade later. Her success kicked open the door for future network anchors like Jane Pauley, Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer.
Raimondo Borea was an accomplished photo essayist. From 1957 to 1982, Borea was afforded exclusive behind-the-scenes access to NBC television broadcasts, most notably The Today Show and The Tonight Show, where he captured candid portraits of the show’s hosts and guests, as well as all the production activity behind-the-scenes.
GME licenses photographs by Raimondo Borea and Hugh Bell for films, television, books, and museum exhibitions. GME also exclusively represents the full photographic archive of Jack Mitchell (in addition to the Borea and Bell collections) for placement with a major cultural or research institution.
Information regarding licensing photographs and film clips from GME can be found here.
