Kino Lorber announces THE CINEMA ACCORDING TO MARK RAPPAPORT, a collection of works by the critically-acclaimed director of innovative narrative features and essay films, running at Anthology Film Archives, August 11—24. Programs will screen virtually August 11—24 and in theater August 19—22, the theater’s first-ever split virtual and in person series. Rappaport’s most well-known works—and the focus of the Anthology series—were created in the 1990s and onward, and feature his signature style of cinematic commentary comprised of archival film clips, including ROCK HUDSON’S HOME MOVIES and FROM THE JOURNALS OF JEAN SEBERG (both available on disk and for DSL licensing from GME).

We are offering this service exclusively to the academic community for the streaming of moving image works via the university’s own intranet or closed circuit network, in order to further enrich curricula as well as for library and research use.

GME Streamline is extremely proud to present an extensive collection of 14 of James Benning’s films (comprising 6 DVD editions), as well as CIRCLING THE IMAGE (2003), a documentary on Benning’s meticulous investigation of landscape locations, camera position, and shot duration. These collected works comprising 16mm films span a 30 year period from 1977 (11x14) through to 2007 (RR), and have been mastered in high quality digital format by Edition Filmmuseum - Vienna. Benning’s born-digital films date from 2009 (RUHR) through to 2014 (NATURAL HISTORY) and exemplify Benning’s shift from working with film grain to pixels. We now make each of these films available as DVD/DSL bundles on an exclusive basis to the North American university market.

Sharing with poetry concepts of sound and rhythm through shot and montage via his "Kino-Eye" aesthetic, Vertov created one of the most innovative and influential bodies of cinematic work and theoretical writings in the history of moving image artistic expression. Jon Gartneberg, President of Gartenberg Media, interviewed Carrière for a French film documentary during a retrospective of his films at the Museum of Modern Art in 2019.
